Getting Around

Algoma University is located in the east end of Sault Ste. Marie, in a quiet, residential area, just on outskirts of the downtown

Our location is perfect for students – a quick five-minute bus ride (or 30-minute walk) will take you anywhere you need to go within the city’s limits.

Sault Ste. City Transit

The Sault Ste. Marie city bus terminal is located at the corner of Queen Street and Dennis Street in the downtown. For route and fare information please visit www.saulttransitservices.com. Unlike at other cities, our bus routes travel back to the terminal every hour, ensuring that no matter where you venture, all routes lead back to the downtown. This helps ensure you never get lost and always know where you will end up. Plus, three bus routes have direct stops at our Algoma U campus: Riverside, Second Line, and Sault College.

John Roswell Hub Trail

Recently, Algoma University became home to one of the John Roswell Hub Trail access points. The Hub trail is a 25-kilometre paved system which connects all major destinations in Sault Ste. Marie together. You can walk, bike, jog, run, or rollerblade the system. This makes travel easier and more scenic. For more information, or for a Hub Trail map, please visit the City of Sault Ste. Marie website.

Union Cab

Sometimes you just don’t want to take City Transit. Have a late night planned or a large grocery purchase you need help bringing back to residence? Call Union Cab at 705-946-1300.

Greyhound

The Greyhound bus terminal is located at the Howard Johnson hotel at 563 Trunk Road. The Greyhound travels across Canada and into the United States, providing affordable transit. Students also receive special student pricing – just be sure to have your student card before you board the bus to receive this pricing. For more information visit www.greyhound.ca.

Porter Airlines

Porter Airlines has become one of the most affordable travel options for our out-of-town students and families. The Sault Ste. Marie, and is used by our students and their families weekly.
