Algoma U Office of Research & Innovation Launches Experiential Learning Hub

(SAULT STE. MARIE, ON – December 11, 2018): Algoma University’s Office of Research and Innovation, alongside the Department of Experiential Learning, is excited to announce the launch of the Experiential Learning Hub; a dynamic new innovation space where students, faculty, and employers will be collaborating.

The opening of the Hub was announced in a special event today where guests toured the newly renovated space. A key priority of the Office of Research and Innovation is to align research talent with the needs of the local community by facilitating collaborative research efforts between the university, government, and the private sector. Algoma University aims to make a real and lasting impact through the creation of more hands-on experiences and related supports, particularly in the area of research and innovation.

The Experiential Learning Hub is a central resource for the many activities that help prepare students for a successful transition to further studies or employment. Through the Hub’s programming and employment opportunities, students will have the chance to practice and build upon the transferable skills that are highly sought after by employers.

“In the new Research and Innovation space, faculty, students, and community partners from across the sciences, humanities, and the social sciences will gather eagerly to solve the most pressing challenges facing the world today,” said Pedro Antunes, Algoma University Associate Professor of Biology and Executive Lead of Research. “Our team is very excited with this new development and will keep striving to strengthen existing partnerships for the benefit of our students, community, and society as a whole.”
