Congratulations on your acceptance into Algoma University! We will be hosting an Academic Orientation for all incoming students (direct from high school, college transfer, and mature students) to help prepare you for September. This is a crucial event in the beginning of your educational journey so we know that you will do what you can to attend. We encourage parents to come, too!
The purpose of an Academic Orientation is to provide all incoming students with a chance to meet their faculty, meet an Academic Advisor to discuss course selection, gain assistance in registering for classes online, and learn about the supports and services available to all students. Another important aspect is beginning to learn and understand the processes involved in university, including new terminology such as majors and minors, credit hours and so on!
All students who attend will be entered into a draw for a $350 Bookstore credit and will receive a ‘Student Success’ package. REGISTER BELOW!
Date and Time: Monday, June 4, 2018 at 6:30pm
Location: Algoma University, main campus, room NW 200 (signs will be posted). Only out-of-town students who live more than 50km away will have the option to join us through WebEx; please indicate if you are out-of-town on RSVP and information will be emailed to you
Schedule of Events:
1. Welcome and University Basics: 6:30 – 8pm
Topics will include: Getting to know Algoma U, how to use students.algomau.ca, student success at Algoma U, and much more!
2. Meet Faculty: 8 – 9pm
Meet with faculty, and in addition, academic advising and online registration will be available
