March Break Open House

We host an annual open house during March Break for student applicants and their families to visit campus. We conduct tours of campus and residence facilities and provide options for faculty/student engagement, plus we have a variety of fun activities to take part in. A travel stipend is available to applicants to help with the cost of hotel and travel.  Find out more and register for this event before March 4.


We encourage everyone to visit Algoma University. We can arrange to have you visit our campus on an individual basis, with your friends and family. Any student wishing to visit campus during the school year will have the unique opportunity of meeting students and faculty, as well as experiencing our campus community. To make sure you get the most out of your time at Algoma U, we’ll gladly personalize your tour to match your interests – you can even sit in on a class or two. Whether you decide to drive or fly, we’ll help cover your travel costs and pay for your hotel stay in Sault Ste. Marie or Brampton. We really do believe you will love it when you visit us – that’s why we’ll help pay for your travel. Our travel stipend is as follows:

  • We will make the booking for you and provide you with up to two nights of hotel accommodations
  • If you fly within Canada, we will reimburse 50% of the cost of the student’s ticket, or
  • If you drive, we will provide you with a $50-$100 gasoline gift card when you attend your tour.

NOTE: The travel stipend is for students who have not already accepted an offer to study at Algoma University.

A great way to visit Algoma University is with your school. Throughout the school year, we host schools from the Algoma region, who come and take part in a variety of activities on campus. Many also come to campus to use our facilities and services, like our athletics complex and our library. Contact to find out if your school can come for a visit or is scheduled to make an appearance in the future.

So maybe you can’t make it here for a visit. That’s okay. You can take advantage of our virtual tour, which will guide you through the halls, classrooms, and buildings of our Sault Ste Marie campus. Stay tuned – we’re in the process of updating our virtual tour!

Prospective students can also attend our varsity athletics games to get a taste of what campus life and student life is like at Algoma U. We host home basketball and soccer games each year (soccer games are held at Superior Heights Collegiate and Institute School athletics’ complex) on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Come check out the games, and cheer on our home teams! Go Thunderbirds, go!
