Apply Now to the GLISMI

Below you will find step by step instructions on how to apply to the Great Lakes International Summer Music Institute (GLISMI) as well as admission requirements. Applications will be considered on a first come first serve basis. Apply now to secure your spot.

STEP 1

Audition

Please send the following to [email protected]:

I. Audition Video (mp4 or YouTube link) of 2 contrasting pieces representing your highest level of playing

II. Letter of Support / Reference from a music teacher (300 words max)

III. Statement of Intent: Include your background/training as a musician, goals for the future, what you hope to gain from your time at the GLISMI (300 words max)

STEP 2

Receive Acceptance Letter

The GLISMI will email you a confirmation of acceptance with a link to register within 2 weeks of receiving your audition materials.

All applicants will be contacted. Applications will be considered on a first come first serve basis

STEP 3

Registration Form, Waivers and Payment

An email will be sent out to you containing waiver forms and a registration form.

I. Download and complete the Off-Campus Waiver, Photo Release and Medical Form (fillable PDF’s). You will be asked to submit these documents in the registration form.

II. Fill out the GLISMI registration form

III. Make payment (in the form)

STEP 4

Celebrate!

Congratulations! If you have successfully completed steps 1-3, you’re now officially registered for the Great Lakes International Summer Institute.

We’ll be in touch with you soon to provide further details on arrival dates and the schedule.

DATE & LOCATION

Location: Algoma University in Sault Ste. Marie, ON Canada – at the heart of the Great Lakes

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT

Music Institute instruction is delivered in English. In order to be successful, students must be able to communicate and comprehend English. International students who have not written an English language test will be interviewed prior to being accepted to the Institute.

MUSIC SKILL REQUIREMENT

Advanced Level musicians:

Jazz (guitar, bass, drums, piano, vocals, woodwind, brass)
Singer-songwriter

PROGRAM FEES

General student fees: $2,000.00 CDN. (Fees include room and board)

Fees for local students: $1,500.00 CDN. (Fees do not include room and board)
