Academic Advising

Student Services

At Algoma U, you’ll have access to academic advising through staff and/or faculty advisors. We’re here to help you, and we encourage you to make academic advising appointments any time throughout the year.

Drop-In Academic Advising

The Student Service Advisors are available to assist you throughout the year with academic advising during our "drop-in" advising hours: Drop into our offices in the Student Services Area (SH 202 - 205) to meet with an advisor from Monday to Thursday between 10am and noon, or between 2pm and 4pm.

First Year Students

All students in the first year of studies at Algoma University are encouraged to participate in an Academic Orientation session prior to the start of fall classes. The Academic Orientation sessions are half-day events for students to learn about degree programme requirements, academic support services, course selection, and to register and pay fees.

If you’re a first-year students commencing in the winter or spring, or if you’d like mid-term academic advising, please make an appointment with an Academic Advisor for first-year students by emailing advising@algomau.ca or dialing ext. 4216.
