Algoma University is a multicultural university with a growing international population, so you will meet a lot of young people from Canada and around the world.
While studying at Algoma University, you can take advantage of the following:
An International Student Advisor to assist with immigration-related matters, study permit renewals and an orientation program to help you get settled
Recreational activities including camping, skiing and hiking
Cultural activities and events, such as Chinese New Year, Black History Month and an Eid Feast

International students registered for full-time studies are eligible to work part-time on-campus through Algoma University’s International Work Study Program. Employment opportunities are posted at the beginning of each semester. Eligible international students can also apply for an off-campus work permit. Eligible international students may enroll in Co-operative Education, allowing for paid work placements with various Canadian businesses.
International student scholarships
Scholarships are available to entering and continuing, full-time international students. An application is required. Scholarships range between $500 and $2,500. For more information on international scholarships, please visit our website at www.algomau.ca/awards.
International undergraduate admission requirements
Algoma University reviews international applicants on an individual basis. Normally, applicants must meet the requirements for admission to a university in their home country. For a listing of country-specific requirements, please click here. (PDF).
How to apply to Algoma University undergraduate programs

You can apply for admission online by visiting www.algomau.ca/apply.
To complete the application you also need to:
Send a non-refundable $50 CDN application fee (certified cheque, bank draft or money order)
Send your proof of English language proficiency (e.g. TOEFL) (if required)
Send official high school/secondary school transcripts
If you have attended other colleges or universities, send all other official transcripts (e.g. university or college course transcripts)

English language requirements

If English is not your first language, you must submit proof of English Language Proficiency to be considered for admission. Students who submit one of the following minimal language requirements will be considered for admission:
TOEFL score of 550 (213 CB or 79 IB)
IELTS 6.0
MELAB 90%
CanTEST 4.50
CAEL 60
EIKEN pre-1
Pearson Test of English (PTE)
Or successful completion of SPELL (ENGL 0005): Sault Program for English Language Learning with 70% or better
