Algoma University Thunderbirds SportsAlgoma University competes annually on the provincial stage in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA), with varsity men's and women's basketball teams. Both the men's and women's teams compete in the OCAA's Western Division.
Men’s and women’s curling rinks also participate in the OCAA, and Algoma University is proud of our OCAA Men's 2004 Curling Champions. In 2007 & 2008, the Algoma U Women's rink secured a silver medal at the OCAA Provincial Championships.
If playing competitively is not your game, get involved by participating on a club or intramural team, or by playing a pick-up game in the GLC. All students have the opportunity to keep active through participation in a variety of club and pick-up activities, including floor hockey, volleyball, badminton, basketball, and squash. Tournaments and special events are held throughout the year. We also have soccer fields, a slo-pitch diamond, indoor and outdoor hockey rinks, a running track, and an indoor pool located close to campus.
