Co-operative education is designed to integrate undergraduate academic studies with paid work experience.
Algoma University’s Co-operative Education Program follows the Canadian Association for Co-operative Education model of paid work terms allowing students career exploration and experience in areas of career interest, while academic terms build a solid foundation of theoretical and conceptual knowledge in the area of study.

Overview of COOP 0101: Career Skills Course
COOP 0101 is a one-credit co-op course designed to inform co-op students about the co-op program and prepare students for the job search process. COOP 0101 is a 1.5 hour class held once a week for one semester. Students are encouraged to enroll in COOP 0101 within the first two semesters of study. Topics covered include:
Skills assessment
Resume and cover letter tips
Interview skills
Job search skills
Business etiquette
COOP 0101 is offered every fall and winter term.
