This collection of research expertise and commerce among private, public and governmental organizations in the fields of the biosciences and technology is the catalyst for the new $21.4 million Biosciences and Technology Convergence Centre.
Essential Elements: The Campaign for Algoma U will raise $2 million to:
Provide equipment for student and research laboratories, faculty offices, classrooms and study areas for Algoma University’s Biology Program.
Furnish and equip space for Algoma Games for Health, a cutting edge video game development studio designed to create and market products for the health care sector.
Support the Invasive Species Research Institute, focused on the biology, early detection and management of terrestrial invasive species in Canada. Examples of invasive species causing billions of dollars in lost income, management costs and resource depletion are purple loosestrife, the emerald ash borer, and dutch elm disease.
Enhance the work of the Health Informatics Institute, focused on the science of using technology to enable innovation and improve the efficiency of healthcare delivery.
