Music and Fine Arts explore and reveal the soul of a civilization.
Inspirational, entertaining, therapeutic, and motivating, the arts sustain us all. Rich in transforming potential, the visual and performing arts programs at Algoma U add vibrancy to our campus and to student life. In creating new space for the teaching, learning and appreciation of arts and culture, we are building on the strengths of the University’s growing arts programs, and injecting vital energy to the downtown core.
The Fine Arts and Music Education (FAME) Centre will provide opportunities for enhanced partnerships as well as specialized studio space, multi-purpose classroom space and faculty offices for the University’s growing Bachelor of Fine Arts Program. The FAME Centre, located in the former Windsor Park Hotel, will also become the new home of the Algoma Conservatory of Music. The Conservatory’s renowned instructional programs will be housed in custom-designed studios, classrooms and practice rooms that will allow the stellar calibre of the instructors and students to shine.
Essential Elements: The Campaign for Algoma U will raise funds to:
Enhance the educational experience with state-of-the-art instruction and studio space for the Bachelor of Fine Arts Program.
Provide the Algoma Conservatory of Music with the customized, highly technical, sound-proofed facilities required by a professional music school. The Conservatory is Ontario’s second-largest non-profit music conservatory, surpassed only by the Royal Conservatory of Music.
Create much-needed faculty office and meeting spaces, student spaces and opportunities for community access and collaboration.
