When you study in the Mathematics department at Algoma University, you will cover practical topics like the applications of mathematics and data analysis, as well as highly theoretical and abstract concepts. You will discover how mathematical methods are being applied to ever-widening fields of knowledge and play a prominent role in guiding and stimulating research in science and other fields.

Mathematics is among the most fascinating of all intellectual disciplines, the purest of all art forms, the most challenging of games, and both the queen and the servant of the sciences. With a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, you will be prepared for teaching, jobs in actuarial science, statistics and mathematical modelling, or for graduate school and research. A strong background in mathematics is also necessary if you want to work in many areas of computer science, engineering and social science.
