High-level English language skills are important to meet the demands of university-level English in Canada. If you want to study at Algoma U, but you do not have the required proof of language proficiency (ie.TOEFL) to start a degree program, you can study S.P.E.L.L. first.
There are five levels of S.P.E.L.L. and you can expect to spend a term (12 weeks) per level. Some students may require only one term of S.P.E.L.L. before entering a degree program, while others may require several terms. Your language skills will be tested once you arrive on-campus to ensure you are placed in the correct S.P.E.L.L. level. Upon completion of level 5 of S.P.E.L.L., with a minimum of 70%, admitted students may begin their degree program.
