Algoma University offers 30-credit certificates in a variety of disciplines. Students may choose to complete a certificate as a compliment to their degree concentration. Other students may choose to complete a certificate independent of a degree on a part-time basis to broaden their knowledge of a certain area of study.
What is a certificate program?
A certificate program requires 30 credits and is available to students who wish to broaden their knowledge in a particular area. Certificate programs are designed for students interested in acquiring skills in a particular area within the degree program or on its own.
How long will it take to complete?
Students may be able to complete the certificate on a full-time or part-time basis. 30 credits are required to complete the program (ten 3-credit courses). The certificate program is designed for completion over the course of 1-3 years depending on the program and the student.
Can I apply the certificate towards a degree?
All courses taken as part of the certificate programs may be applied toward an undergraduate degree should the student meet the entrance requirements of that program.
I am currently studying at Algoma U in another program. Can I still complete a certificate program?
Current students may be able to complete a certificate program within their degree program. Please contact your Academic Advisor for details.
Do you offer any non-credit certificate programs?
Yes, we offer an English as a Second Language certificate and the Cooperative Education certificate program. The Cooperative Education certificate is to be completed within the degree program.
