How will the courses be delivered?

The method of course delivery will be indicated in the course description. Some courses will be delivered in-person by a qualified Algoma University instructor who will travel to Timmins to teach the course. Some courses will be delivered via interactive videoconference from Algoma’s home campus in Sault Ste. Marie. Some courses will be taught by a qualified Algoma University instructor hired in Timmins.

 

Will I have to travel to Sault Ste. Marie at any point during my studies?

No, all course instruction, examinations, and guest lectures will be available in Timmins.

 

Does Algoma University plan to offer a full Bachelor of Social Work program in Timmins?

A four-year Honours Bachelor of Social Work received approval from the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities in December 2010. Algoma University will offer diploma-to-degree and university transfer pathways to the BSW program in Timmins starting in September 2011.

 

Are Algoma University's programs accredited?

The Bachelor of Social Work is accredited through the Canadian Association for Social Work Education (CASWE), meaning that graduates of the program can apply to register as social workers in Ontario.

 

How do I apply to Algoma University for individual courses?

Prospective students will apply directly to Algoma University instead of through the Ontario Universities Application Centre (OUAC). A $50.00 application fee will be charged. For details, please click here.
