Students granted admission with full course recognition credits for an existing degree or diploma should be able to complete the program in 20 months (five semesters). Students who will not receive the maximum number of course recognition credits will be required to complete additional courses after completion of the 20 month program.
International students for whom English is not a first language, must provide proof of English language proficiency such as TOEFL with a minimum score of 550 (written) or 213 (computer based). We also accept IELTS of 6.0, MELAB of 90%, or CAEL of 60.
All applicants are required to submit official transcripts or notarized photocopies; however, photocopies will be accepted in order to facilitate a conditional offer of admission. This will be a conditional offer, pending receipt of official documents. An official copy of your transcript must be presented to Admissions prior to the start of the program. It is very important that students with international university education understand that the offer of admission remains "conditional or incomplete" until the documents are verified.
We encourage domestic students to apply by May 30 and international students to apply by April 1. Submitting your application by these dates will allow us the necessary time to verify your documents and notify you as to your acceptance. If further documentation is needed, you would then have the time necessary to secure these documents. Also, by following this deadline, students would have time to apply for OSAP or make arrangements and obtain visas to travel to Canada, if required.
Due to the course cycle, our only intake at this time is in September.
While some courses within these degree programs may be offered on-line with tutorial support, the majority of each program requires classroom participation at Algoma University's Brampton location. Students should plan to attend full-time, evening courses while studying at Algoma University at Brampton.
