As a college graduate, you are much closer to receiving a degree at Algoma University than you may think. Block Credit Policy provides maximum recognition for your prior learning experiences depending on grades, length of diploma and field of study. We also have exceptional pathway agreements with numerous colleges offering transfer credit that goes beyond the standard Block Credit Policy.

In general, Diploma-to-Degree students studying full-time (15 credits per term) will take anywhere from two to five terms to graduate with a three-year Bachelor’s degree, and four to seven terms to graduate with a four-year Bachelor’s degree. The maximum number of transfer credits for the Bachelor of Science degree is 36. This policy accounts for graduates that transfer from a diploma to a related degree (ex. Business – BBA).College graduates transferring into an unrelated degree program will receive a limited amount of transfer credit.

In all exceptional agreements a minimum diploma average of 3.0 (B or higher) is required. College graduates with an average GPA of 2.5-2.99 will receive transfer credit that corresponds with the block credit policy.

Upon application, the Admissions Office will review your transcripts and provide you with a transfer credit assessment confirming which courses you will be exempted from. You will receive personalized advising on course selection. Students with GPAs of 2.0 - 2.49 are eligible to apply but will not receive transfer credits.
